Assessment of climatic conditions for tourism in Xinjiang, China

Abstract Tourism is a highly climate-sensitive sector, and the suitability of climate weather can be central motivation for travel. Through tourism index (TCI), this study uses daily data from period 1980 to 2014 identify spatial temporal distribution climatic conditions in Xinjiang China with regard its attractiveness general tourism. The analytical results indicate that most suitable months are April, May, September, October. best condition (TCI > 80) activities found September parts Xinjiang, except Tianshan Turpan Basins. not attractive during winter months. annual average number climatically days 70) highest northwestern Aksu, Kashgar, western Hotan.
